Live Each Day

Each night, I have a review of my day.  Somewhere along the journey of my life, I decided that I should live as if each day were my last.  I do not approach this in a morbid way.  It is about living fully and making the most of each day that we are given.

It is not all about doing and accomplishing. Instead, it is about honoring the sacred beauty of each day.  It is about taking time to love and share and celebrate the moments.

As I am choosing to live a life of Spirit, every day needs to include dedication and devotion to Spirit.

Questions that I ask myself include…

What am I grateful for? Have I honored my blessings? Most significantly, have I contributed to the greater good?  Am I blessing life- the smooth and the bumpy; the gifts and the challenges?

We all have different ideas about the purpose of life and about our individual dharmic callings and contributions. Over the years, I have studied many systems.  They can be interesting and expand one’s perspective. However, in my humble estimation, we have an overcomplicated understanding of what the purpose of life truly is.

The great challenges that we face are an important aspect of our life purpose.  There is a calling for your soul to be found within the challenges that you face.  It is best to meet our challenges with an open heart and an open mind. Dive deep. Immerse yourself in the experience. Bring your best to the process. Give it your all.

It is easier said than done.  A challenge that is life-threatening makes this process much more complicated. When we face such challenges, that is how we find out who we are and what we are truly made of. Over the years, I have come to have a deep respect for those who face the big challenges. Those souls came to do great work.

There are others way to find your purpose. Excavate and explore your values. Life’s purpose reveals itself to us in the moments and experiences that hold the greatest meaning in our life.

Counting your blessings and keeping a gratitude journal are very useful ways to discover what holds value and meaning in life. When we recognize what we love and cherish, we come to understand what our purpose is.

In the Judeo-Christian tradition, our purpose is supposed to be demonstrated through service to others. Many people lose themselves in this process. Service should be soul-honoring and expanding, never soul-dimishing. In constrast, popular psychology and the new age movement demanded that we care for ourselves, sometimes to the point of selfishness.

We do need to attend to our self, as demonstrated by the oxygen mask in the airplane. We cannot give to another that which we do not have to give.  We serve from our overflow. We can only serve from our abundance. Our life purpose evolves into the part of us that has a self-sustaining supply.

What do you have that is self-sustaining?  A smile? A hug?  Knowledge learned.  Experience gained. Your life purpose reveals itself in your abundance and your gifts.  Those things that emerge from your joy and your wisdom. They cannot be contained. They must be shared.

May this inspire you to explore your purpose.

As another season is about to shift, I invite you to live this life as fully as possible. Squeeze every juicy bit out of each day.  Feel the sun on your face. Smell the flowers in bloom.  Let the water lap at your feet.  Give gratitude.

I am hosting a Wisdom Circle on Sunday, June 1st from 2pm to 4pm. We will celebrate the seasonal shift from spring to summer. Let’s set potent intentions to live fully this summer and beyond.

Every Friday, from 10am to 11:30, we are upleveling our energy, expanding our minds, and strengthening our bodies with Kundalini Yoga and Meditation. As we shift in summer, we will open to the light illuminating our chakras and our energy bodies. We draw upon the Kundalini Yoga practices enable us to clear the clutter from our energy systems, bring radiance to our aura and magnify our true intentions. It really is good stuff.

May you have a lovely shift from spring to summer. I hope to see you soon.

In Love and Light,

Robin
