Support for the Journey

Friends,

This is one serious winter!  If we are meant to pause, reflect and dream a new life, this winter is supporting us completely. However, it is challenging for our more mundane activities. I am grateful that the weather is becoming a bit more manageable.

As someone who, for over twenty-five years, has consciously chosen to live a life as a spiritual student, guide and teacher, I can sincerely say that I have never experienced energy like we are all living with today. The fear, stress and sorrow can be overwhelming. It feels important to share some of the strageties that have worked for me.

First of all, you are not alone. We have come to this planet, at this time, to do the work. This is not meant to break us. It is meant to evolve and elevate us.

Times such as these are exactly the reason that we need a spiritual practice. We need something that our body, emotions, mind, and soul can rely upon. There are so many forms that our practice can take.

I have tried many and currently practice several. I can offer support, if you are searching. The best practice is the one that you are willing to do daily, or almost daily. The one that you will come back to again and again.

At various times on my path, I have been guided to utilize different practices. During my ministry training, I would wake early and write down my dreams. Eventually, I added a tarot spread and reiki practice to that morning routine.  Later, when my world was crazy, I found astrology and meridian tapping to be beneficial. Always, during the years since my ordination, I have used yoga and mantra. In 2018, when I was overwhelmed with issues in my family, in desperation, I came to Kundalini Yoga. This practice was my savior and my sanity. Now it is my joy and my peace.

Over time, I integrated the many practices weaving them lovingly into my days, weeks, months, seasons and years. The integrative practice(s) brought me into unity with Spirit again and again. Now, after so many years, so well have I practiced, that it is with me in my breath, in my tears and in my joy. It is all Oneness, Soul, and Spirit.

This is my prayer for you. That you may find some practice to bring your body, emotions, mind and soul into harmony with Spirit.

The extraordinary challenges that we are witnessing daily are calling us to rise up and to be our best Self. We need to bring forth our grace, our courage, our wisdom, our heart and our soul. We are needed in our families, our communities, our state, our country and our world.

If you would like to explore a practice, I am adding new practices daily on my website under Remedies.

Here is one that is easily accessible and very effective to calm our stress and regulate our nervous system. It is a simple breath meditation that can be done for a minute or up to half an hour.  You work it into your schedule.

Another thing that you can do is to pick a favorite poem or prayer and repeat it 108x or for 3, 7 or 11 minutes. Over the years on Lent, I did 40 days of the Prayer of St. Francis, then ee cummings - I thank you God and then the 23rd Psalm. There are many paths to peace. These prayers are on my site under Prayers.

It is also very supportive to come together in community. I am looking forward to Yoga tomorrow morning at Sanctuary. Let’s us begin again.

You are welcome to join me on Sunday for the Wisdom Circle (2pm to 4pm).  There is something so powerful about gathering together in spiritual practice.

Blessings and Love,

Robin
