Science of meditation

Search, no matter what situation you are in.

O thirsty one, search for water constantly.

Finally, the time will come when you will reach the spring.

Activate the Relaxation Response

"The term "Relaxation Response" was coined by Dr. Herbert Benson, professor, author, cardiologist, and founder of Harvard’s Mind/Body Medical Institute. The response is defined as your personal ability to encourage your body to release chemicals and brain signals that make your muscles and organs slow down and increase blood flow to the brain. In his book, The Relaxation Response, Dr. Benson describes the scientific benefits of relaxation, explaining that regular practice of the Relaxation Response can be an effective treatment for a wide range of stress-related disorders...  People who meditate regularly enjoy lower stress levels, increased wellbeing, and even were able to reduce their blood pressure levels and resting heart rate."

To activate the relaxation response, we need to shift our brain frequency from from the highly active state of beta into alpha.  Alpha brainwave frequency is associated with rest and relaxation.  During alpha,we are reflective, in-process and creative.  Our breathing becomes more relaxed.  Our pulse rate slows, our blood pressure goes down and the endocrine system sends chemical (hormonal) messages that shift the body into a recovery and healing mode.

Explore Various Types of Meditation

There are many different types of meditation that have been practice for thousands of years.  In more recent times, various techniques have been developed.  In this practice, we will draw from a variety of sources to include yoga, qi gong, shamanism, the Heartmath Institute and Dr. Joe Dispenza in our integrative practice of meditation.

Meditation for Spiritual Development

Guided Meditation is the most essential tool for spiritual development as it create a direct connection with one's soul and illuminate the significance of current circumstances of one's life. In meditation practice, the meditative mind is developed which creates the doorway to the higher levels of Being.  The pineal gland is toned and activated when the meditative mind is achieved.

Where your attention goes, your energy flows.

We can utilize meditation to create genuine and dynamic positive change in our lives.

In order to create positive change, science tells us that we need to shift from the active and stress-filled level of brain function into a more relaxed and healing state of mind.

The waking state of brain function is known as beta.  Beta brain function ranges from hyper-vigilance and highly stressed to everyday focus and functional awareness.  We spend a great deal of our waking time is the busy-mind-state of beta.  It is well documented that extended periods of high beta activity are very hard on the body, mind and spirit.

As the brainwave frequency slows down, we move through levels of consciousness.  In beta, we are highly conscious, awake and aware.  In alpha, we are slowing down and more relaxed.  As brainwave frequency continues to slow, we shift from a relaxed state into a state where we still conscious and yet we are now able to access the subconscious mind.

This alpha into theta frequency is the goal for our guided meditation.  In this frequency, we are able to access the benefits of theta brainwave frequency.  Theta brainwave frequency ranges from daydreaming, meditation, light sleep and finally the dream state.

For our purposes, we will focus on the alpha-into-theta brainwave frequency range because this is the space where we are able to access the subconscious mind.  At this point, the critical (discerning) consciousness relaxes and we now have access to our subconscious mind.  Dr. Bruce Lipton has stated that 95% of our mind is unconscious and this subconscious mind is one million times more powerful than our conscious mind.  We will harness the power of guided meditation to shift from beta into alpha-theta. This is your opportunity to activate the relaxation response in your body and to access your subconscious mind for the purpose of co-creating health, happiness and transformation.
