Activate the Relaxation Response
"The term "Relaxation Response" was coined by Dr. Herbert Benson, professor, author, cardiologist, and founder of Harvard’s Mind/Body Medical Institute. The response is defined as your personal ability to encourage your body to release chemicals and brain signals that make your muscles and organs slow down and increase blood flow to the brain. In his book, The Relaxation Response, Dr. Benson describes the scientific benefits of relaxation, explaining that regular practice of the Relaxation Response can be an effective treatment for a wide range of stress-related disorders... People who meditate regularly enjoy lower stress levels, increased wellbeing, and even were able to reduce their blood pressure levels and resting heart rate."

To activate the relaxation response, we need to shift our brain frequency from from the highly active state of beta into alpha. Alpha brainwave frequency is associated with rest and relaxation. During alpha,we are reflective, in-process and creative. Our breathing becomes more relaxed. Our pulse rate slows, our blood pressure goes down and the endocrine system sends chemical (hormonal) messages that shift the body into a recovery and healing mode.

Guided Meditation is the most essential tool for spiritual development as it create a direct connection with one's soul and illuminate the significance of current circumstances of one's life.
